Pop-Up Sprinklers
The final common type of sprinkler is the pop-up
sprinkler. These are very simple sprinklers that are often
used for small strips of grass and for irrigating
landscaping. They operate by water pressure forcing up
the sprinkler head, after which the water exits out the
spray nozzle.
There really are no pro's or con's to pop-ups since there
really is no alternative for doing small areas. However,
there are a variety of types of pop-ups:

  • 360 degree: spray in a full circle
  • 180 degree: spray in a half circle
  • 90 degree: spray in a quarter circle

What type you need depends upon where you want to
place them. You want to avoid spraying water on
buildings or fences, because even over-spray can lead
to rust staining if you have well water.
