One of the most popular types of sprinklers in use
today are impact sprinklers. They are called impact
sprinklers because they use a small hammer inside the
sprinkler to advance the sprinkler. The water pressure
pushes the hammer away from the sprinkler, but a
spring pushes the hammer back, thus striking the
