Stone Edging Installation
Have you ever seen professional landscaping with
stone edging and wished you could have it at your
house? It's not that hard to install and contains cover
well. In the following article you'll find tricks and tips
to aid your installation.
Before you begin laying down stone, you need to lay
down the pavers, you want to lay down some gravel
or crushed limestone. The crushed limestone is
preferred, but if you're only doing one layer of pavers,
normal gravel will suffice.
Start by digging a trench 6" deep that is a little wider
than one paver. Lay down the crushed limestone or
the gravel. Use a paver to pack down the gravel. You
can then begin to set down the pavers.
Use your level to make sure that the stones are
even. If they're not, add some more gravel
underneath it or use the paver to pack down the
gravel until the stones level out. I can't stress how
important it is to make sure that the stones are level,
especially if you plan on adding additional layers of
pavers. You can see in the picture how the pavers
have bumps that fit into holes on the underside of
the other paver.
If you need to cut a paver for any reason, I would
recommend a wide chisel, like the one pictured
below. If your chisel is relatively sharp it should go
through the paver relatively easy.
